Estão abertas as candidaturas para 1º Andar – mostra de criadores emergentes 2010.
Serão seleccionados 4 espectáculos, a apresentar nos dias 25 e 27.Novembro e 2 e 4.Dezembro’10, na Covilhã. As propostas deverão ser enviadas até dia 9.Julho’10.
Os interessados deverão solicitar o regulamento e ficha de inscrição por e-mail (qp@quartaparede.pt).

Será na conferência The Embodiment of Authority: Perspectives in Performance, que se irá realizar em Setembro próximo. Uma conferência muito á frente. Quero mesmo estar lá!!

Segue-se o abstract da minha proposta:
Envisioning music from a performance’s perspective represents to me an extraordinary platform to re-think, re-evaluate and re-enact music-making in the present context. As Marvin Carlson said (2004), performance is the process by which past forms of thinking and doing are adjusted and changed in the present, to answer the new motivations, needs and ways of living. To think about “music as performance” we need to challenge many ideas about the way music is typically thought, performed, perceived and studied by composers, musicians, listeners and researchers (a fight). But the benefits gained in this process are huge: we find a safe environment to test new artistic models, new languages to represent ideas, new modes of interaction between co-workers, and new strategies to address the audience (a flight). As a musician with keen interest in the performance world, at this conference I will present my latest work, entitled “Music or Performance? That is the Question”, which intersects written/improvised music with live video, performance, theatre and autobiography. It involves the collaboration of five different-skilled persons, including a sound and a video technician, a light designer, a theatre director and a music performer, and aims to defy conventions about what a concert, a pianist and a woman is. The presentation of this multimedia work will start with the deconstruction of its creative process followed by video screening of some of its relevant moments. Finally, more theoretical issues regarding the philosophical nature of the event, the authorial relationship between co-workers, the mode of perception by the viewers, the strategies to document a live event for further investigation and diffusion, and the way it connects with contemporary culture and life style, will be addressed.

Pode a música transcender a dimensão lúdico-estética e ter também um papel pedagógico e social?
Estas e outras questões estão no cerne do projecto Música ou Performance? Eis a Questão - evento performativo que questiona o que acontece quando cruzamos linguagens, disciplinas, sensibilidades e concepções tradicionalmente tidas como opostas ou incompatíveis.
Música ou Performance? Eis a Questão cruza a música, o vídeo, a performance e o teatro, e descreve alguém que em vez de se submeter passivam
ente a caminhos convencionais vai, de questão em questão, à procura de uma linguagem expressiva que a exprima na plenitude.É fruto directo da participação da pianista-performer no workshop Autobiology (Glasgow/2009), um programa criado pela dupla anglo-americana Curious com o objectivo de explorar o visceral, os “gut feelings”, as conexões entre o corpo e a mente, biologia e autobiografia, visando a criação de material artístico “straight from the heart”.

CCB FORA DE SI BELÉM URBANA 2010
Pelo segundo ano consecutivo o Festival ccb fora de si promove a iniciativa Belém Urbana, um dos eixos de programação, a realizar em Julho e Agosto de 2010.
Este projecto incide sobre a arte urbana nas suas múltiplas expressões: música, dança, teatro, novo circo, performance, projectos site specific, cinema, vídeo e multidisciplinares, com o intuito de reunir uma programação nacional de qualidade, adaptada às características dos espaços exteriores do Centro Cultural de Belém.Vimos convidar artistas e criadores portugueses ou estrangeiros que residam em Portugal a apresentar projectos de pequeno e médio formato, em qualquer uma das áreas mencionadas. Também são bem-vindos projectos dirigidos a crianças, jovens e famílias.
Os projectos devem ser enviados, até ao dia 30 de Abril para:

The Embodiment of Authority: Perspectives on Performances
10–12 September 2010, at the Department of Doctoral Studies in Musical Performance and Research, Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, Finland.
Call for Papers
The Embodiment of Authority Conference will be part of the recently formed international network of innovative discussion on the study of performance in the arts. One of the key aims is to look for common denominators, to link different trends in an area that seems to be developing into a major field of research in many countries. The social practices of performing, rehearsing, documenting and theorising, as well as the deconstruction of the creative process in performance, lie at the very heart of the conference.
One of the questions to be addressed is that of "authorship" and collaborative creativity in art. In The Embodiment of Authority Conference, the multi-material aspects of the creativities of the composers, performers, listeners and other agents such as sound technicians or even patrons (cf. Richard Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos), are taken into account in the act of performance.
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is Friday 30th April 2010.
